I had the chance to meet and talk to Malcolm MacLaren about two years ago.
It was right after his first visit in Greece for a Marketing Conference.
It was 3pm on a late May afternoon, having late lunch with him and his assistant and also Takis Giannoutsos and a couple of more people who -forgive me but- I don't remember.
He was a... torrent as the Greek expression is. A torrent that carried us away to an ocean of memories, bright colors and 3 decades full of incredible stories. From the story of Johnny Rotten to the concept of Paris, from the first ever rap (buffalo stance) to the madame butterfly remix and from Africa Bambaataa to Catherine Denevue's hosting of the Paris party... We spent a full 4 hours there, listening to him in awe, washing down our thirst of wanting more with moschofilero wine.

An exciting man who, amongst other things, he urged us to "fail, but fail spectacularly"!
A pioneer and perhaps the most openminded entrepreneur I've ever met.
A visionary who was preoccupied with the present and the future. Yes, the future. Because he got bored when people would ask him about the pank years. It was a myth which he would quickly dismiss and move on to the stuff he was doing NOW.

The last time I met him about a year ago, he was preparing a musical about YSL. And I felt so jealous, I couldn't be part of it...
